Mission...
Forsyth County
Master Gardeners are dedicated to distributing current research-based
gardening information to the public through free or
highly affordable educational opportunities, increasing
environmental awareness, promoting gardening activities,
and supporting its volunteers.
Master Gardener volunteers are able to develop
gardening skills, grow in volunteer roles, contribute
to projects of their own choosing, and produce the
quality of results that make them feel good about investing
valuable time and in skills in community projects.
Our dynamic, self-directed group of volunteers
plan and conduct a variety of projects that would not
be possible without their generous donation of time,
talent and energy
Some projects in which our volunteers participate
include:
-
Teaching school children about plants and
the environment
-
Working in demonstration gardens to test
different plant varieties
-
Caring for the
gardens at the Arboretum at Tanglewood Park
-
Planning and conducting education workshops
-
Participating in plant rescue projects
-
Providing gardening information to homeowners
through our “Hotline” telephone program
-
Providing gardening information to visitors
at our booths at the Dixie Classic Fair and the Home
and Garden Show
