Friday June 6th bring a guest!
Come out to the gardens at Tanglewood and bring your extra garden potted plants to swap.
What is a Swap?
Friendly gathering of folks who love gardening . Bring Plant starts
seedlings, seeds or cuttings. No money is exchanged just plants.
How does this work?
Bring your plants and unload in the garden area and then park in the upper lot or you can park in the upper lot and bring a wagon to pull plants into the set up area. If you have a card table you can set that up with your plants on top and use the underneath area to place your swaps.
- Label all pots with plant name (common name is fine)
- Set your plants up to swap and put your name (can tape to table or wagon) so if someone wants to make a swap and you leave your set up they can find you.
- The first 30 minutes will be (once we are set up to swap) time to just walk around and see what is available and set up potential swaps. 9:30 we can begin the actual swap.
- All MGV's may bring a guest (who also brings plants) so if you choose to leave your set up area someone is still at our plant area.
- It basically works like this: Have your plants grouped in an area around the pathway in the gardens. Main circle area, with your name displayed somewhere so if someone wants to trade with you and you are not around, they can locate you. Everyone else has his or her plants in a similar arrangement. If you see a plant you like from a person at the swap say,"I would like to make a swap do I have something you would like to trade? If you choose you can give a plant on the condition you will get with the person for a future swap.
- We will have an area called the "Orphan" area for any plants you do not want to cart home. Check the Orphan area" at 11 am to see if there is anything you missed and want to take along home to your garden. Any remaining plants will be adopted to the Arboretum Nursery Area.
- No snacks or drinks are provided so ..bring your bottled water or soft drinks.
Just remember to tell the gatekeeper you are here for the MGV Swap and you will not pay a gate fee.
